What is a slip ring?

A slip ring is a rotating connector that can transmit electrical signals such as power and signals to a rotating body.
Attempting to supply power to a point that rotates more than 360° will cause the cable to become tangled and eventually break.
Even in the case of an indexing operation that does not rotate infinitely, if the cable continues to move there is a risk of the coating being damaged or the cable breaking.

[Slip ring structure]

A slip ring is broadly composed of a ring and brushes.
Power is supplied by bringing special brushes into contact with the surface of the metal ring.
These parts come into physical contact to ensure reliable power supply.

[Slip ring shape]

Slip rings are available in two shapes: hollow integrated type and shaft end integrated type.
The hollow integrated type is a product that you attach to your rotating shaft.
The shaft end integrated type is a product where you attach the slip ring shaft to the end of your rotating shaft.
Please select the most suitable type based on the installation situation and usage conditions such as electrical specifications and rotation speed.
If you have any questions or are not sure which type to choose, please contact us.
